ALEX Fletcher made his first-team debut in December 2016 while still an apprentice, replacing Craig Tanner in the closing stages of the Pilgrims’ FA Cup second round draw with Newport County at Home Park.

The following summer, Fletch, a striker full of running, signed his first professional contract, and celebrated in style on his full debut, bagging a late brace at Home Park as the Pilgrims came from 2-0 down to defeat Chelsea on penalties in the EFL Trophy.

Fletcher’s impressive form led to increased involvement in the first-team squad, and he scored his first Football League goal in October 2017 in a 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood at Home Park. In January 2018, Fletcher joined National League side Torquay on a month’s loan.

Last season, Fletcher remained in and around the first-team squad, making a number of appearances from the bench, as well as captaining the Greens’ Premier League Cup side.

Fletch has enjoyed loan spells with Aldershot and Tiverton Town this season.
