BYRON Moore has a lot to thank the current Argyle manager, Ryan Lowe, for. Lowe has managed Moore at his most recent two clubs, Bury and Argyle, but, perhaps more importantly, had Lowe not picked up an injury, Byron may not have experienced his first-team debut at Crewe Alexandra.
While on the books at Crewe, pacey forward Moore cut his teeth in the Northern Premier League with Kidsgrove Athletic in the 2006-07 season. Impressing at ‘The Grove’, Moore scored seven times in 15 appearances. One year, and a Lowe injury later, Moore established himself in the Crewe side, making his debut on August 11, 2007.
The peak of Moore’s Crewe career came in the 2012 League Two play-off final, in which he scored the second goal of a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town at Wembley.
Seven years, over 260 appearances and 30 goals later, Moore signed for rivals Port Vale in 2014. He scored his first goal for the Valiants in a 3-0 win against Doncaster. Perhaps more impressively, he scored the winner in the first round of League Cup against Burnley, who were in the Championship at the time, in August 2015.
Moore signed for Bristol Rovers in 2016. During his spell at the Memorial Stadium, Byron broke a record for the all-time fastest Bristol Rovers goal, netting after just 12 seconds against AFC Wimbledon. Altogether he made 47 appearances at the Mem, before linking up with Ryan Lowe at Bury in 2018.
