CENTRE forward Ryan did not take long to make an impression on his new club, after joining Argyle from Oxford in January 2017.

Ryan had been a prominent player for Oxford that season, making 31 appearances. He joined United in the 2015 summer transfer window, playing 58 times in total, 21 of those appearances from the bench. He scored eight goals for the U’s.

Ryan started his career at Rotherham United, and played 134 games for his local side. In that time he scored 34 goals, two of which came in United’s League Two Play-Off final defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge at Wembley. During his time at Rotherham, Ryan had two short loan spells – at Burton Albion and Exeter City – before a move to Championship club Bristol City in 2011.

In a search for more first-team football, Ryan headed to Portsmouth, for whom he scored six goals in 18 games in his first season there, before grabbing 10 goals the following campaign, including one for Pompey against Argyle in a 2-1 Portsmouth win in April 2015.

Taylor was pivotal as Argyle concluded 2016-17 with promotion, and after missing four months with an ankle injury sustained on the 2017-18 season's opening day, he returned to make a further 20 appearances, scoring five goals, and being involved in just two defeats.

Ryan is sponsored by Top Form and the Argyle Fans Trust.
