POPULAR midfielder Oscar became a permanent Pilgrim at the beginning of July 2016, after his release from Bolton Wanderers.

Threlkeld spent most of the 2015-16 season on loan to Argyle from Bolton, making 25 appearances for the Pilgrims last season in two separate temporary spells, becoming a regular part of the Argyle midfield until he was obliged to return to his hometown club before the play-offs under the terms of his loan.

Threlkeld came through Bolton’s academy and made his debut for the team on April 26, 2014 when he started in a 3-1 away win against Sheffield Wednesday, but signed on loan for Argyle until January - a deal that was extended thanks to a number of impressive showings.

He made his debut for the club as an 83rd-minute substitute in a 3-2 win at AFC Wimbledon in the Football League Trophy, replacing Gregg Wylde. Ozzie was Derek’s eighth signing in the summer of 2015 but had to wait until November for his first start.

He made up for lost time, though, creating such an impression that he was runner-up to Hiram Boateng in the voting for Young Pilgrim of the Year. Last season, he upped his good form, making 39 appearances and scoring a respectable two goals.
