IT took a few months of Ruben Lameiras' opening season at Home Park for it to spring into life.

The lithe attacker made just two starts before December, but once he got into the side, he never looked back, scoring six times as Argyle raced up the table.

Born in Lisbon, Ruben moved to England as a boy and later joined the Academy at Tottenham Hotspur. He signed professional terms in 2014, and featured for their Under-21 side, scoring once in the process.

He then left Spurs for a spell with Swedish First Division side Atvidabergs FF before signing for Coventry City in the summer of 2015, having impressed on a trial.

He made his debut in senior English football on August 8, starting in a 2–0 win over Wigan Athletic at the Ricoh Arena in the first game of the League One season. In two seasons, he made 69 appearances for the Sky Blues scoring seven goals.
