Chestnut Appeal Collection

WE are holding a collection on Saturday in aid of the Chestnut Appeal.

The Chestnut Appeal, Argyle’s official local charity partner, supports men with prostate cancer and their families across Devon and Cornwall and this year is celebrating 15 years of helping improve the care of prostate cancer patients across the region.

Since 2000, the Chestnut Appeal has funded six specialist prostate cancer nurses; brought brachytherapy to the region; continues to purchase equipment such as mobile scanners; and has donated £125,000 to Exeter RD&E and Derriford Hospital to put towards the purchase of separate Da Vinci Robots.

The Chestnut Appeal continues to raise funds and spread awareness across Devon and Cornwall with events and campaigns throughout the year.

Tickets are now on sale for the Crystal Ball, an evening to celebrate 15 years, being held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel on June 6.

Teams of swimmers are invited to a 10-mile challenge at Bude Sea Pool in May, and, in July, a swim around St Michael's Mount. The annual Breakwater Swim is fully registered, but if you would like to be placed on a reserve list please get in touch.

In September, there is a mile swim around Burgh Island and a couple of events on Father’s Day – a challenging Caradon Hill Cycle Ride or a more leisurely day at the ‘Taste of France’ event at the Royal William Yard.

Please help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life.
