The Season Is Upon Us

ARGYLE’S back-to-front start to the new season kicks into gear with the second half of a Hampshire double at Home Park on Saturday.

Having warmed up with a comfortable 3-0 Capital One Cup victory over troubled Portsmouth, Carl Fletcher’s side host Aldershot in their npower League 2 opener.

Only a few games have passed since Dean Holdsworth’s side shot into Plymouth, with their 1-0 defeat at Home Park in April probably contributing to a narrow failure to extend their campaign into post-season.

Fletch anticipates a similarly close encounter this time.

“I am expecting a real tough game, and we have to make sure we’re good in all areas of the pitch,” he said.

“The kind of run they had at the end of last season...They were just a couple of results from getting in the play-offs.

“Dean Holdsworth is a really good manager and a real nice guy, as well.

“He’s been there for a few years and has got a good side there, with some good quality. We have to make sure we are 100% ready to face the challenge.”
