Community Pack A Punch

12 September 2013

ARGYLE’s Community Trust are pleased to announce a new partnership with Intense Boxing Gym, creating fun-filled sessions for local youths.

Through this growing partnership, Argyle community staff and Intense Boxing coaches will offer exciting sessions as part of the new, innovative ‘Premier League 4 Sports’ project.

Argyle Community Trust is set to launch the national ‘Premier League 4 Sports’ project across Plymouth this September.

PL4S sees Premier and Football League Clubs delivering a range of Olympic sports to 12-25 year olds across different sites around the city.

We will soon be delivering fun Boxing, Athletics, Hockey and Netball sessions at a site near you.

Each boxing session, led by ex-professional Danny Lawson, will create a unique opportunity to give the Olympic sport a try first-hand, whilst having fun and meeting new people along the way.

Danny and his experienced team, alongside Argyle community coaches, will create an inclusive environment focused around fitness, techniques and enjoyment.

The rationale behind each session is for young people who may not have given boxing a go previously, the confidence to learn from the pros and gain a positive experience in sport.

Using the power of boxing and Plymouth Argyle, each session will help participants to develop their confidence, discipline and fitness levels to be successful across the board.

Inclusion Manager Dwain Morgan said: “To work with such an established team of coaches is a privilege. Here at the Trust, we cannot wait to get started.

"Boxing is a fantastic way to keep fit, as well as learn skills that can be used in everyday life.

“Danny and his team deliver action-packed sessions, which are enjoyable for all abilities. This is a great opportunity to access high-quality coaching, as well as stay sharp for no matter what sport you play”.

Argyle Intense boxing sessions are for both girls and boys, creating a safe opportunity for people to come together from different communities.

With a focus on fun and fitness, no previous experience is necessary. Sessions will run every Tuesday night out of Intense Gym, Burrington Way Industrial Estate between 6-7pm.

The sessions, which start on Tuesday, October 8, are for anybody between 12-25 years old and will cost £1 only per session.

For more information or to book a space on these new, exciting sessions, please contact Inclusion Manager Dwain Morgan on 01752 562561, option 4, or dwain.morgan@pafc.co.uk
