Banton's Back

ARGYLE manager John Sheridan’s attacking options for Saturday’s clash against Scunthorpe, second place in the Sky Bet League 2, have increased with the return of forward Jason Banton.

The 21-year-old forward joined the Greens from Crystal Palace in January on an 18 month contract after a successful loan spell in 2013. Jason has missed the last four games after injuring his groin early on in the Dagenham and Redbridge match on February 22, but is now poised to return.

“He’s training, he’s available. He’s back and he’ll be in the squad [for Scunthorpe],” said Sheridan.

“That’s going to make my life even harder as you can only pick 11 with seven subs and we’ve got 22 players so it’s very difficult and not something I want to do. They’re all fit and wanting to play.”

Banton’s return means that goalkeeper Luke McCormick, and forward Matt Lecointe are the only ones on the Plymouth Argyle injury list. Luke is looking to return from a broken finger in around eight weeks time, while Matt is in light training with the rest of the squad and is on schedule to return for the end of the season, having suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury at the start of the campaign.
