Wottsy's Wait

PAUL Wotton is only one game short of equalling Sammy Black’s 491 appearances for Argyle...

...a tally that, should he reach it, would place Wottsy as the joint second-highest appearance-maker in the club’s history.

His current manager John Sheridan, the tenth permanent boss Paul has played under in a green shirt, has paid tribute to the achievement the 36-year-old finds himself on the brink of – but will not allow sentiment to dictate his team selection for the final game of the season.

Wotton will travel with the squad to Portsmouth as Argyle conclude their 2013-14 Sky Bet League 2 season, but will await the decision as to whether he will make an appearance and equal Black’s tally.

“I won’t let that allow me to make sure he plays, but he will be in the 18, so he’s got a good chance,” said Shez.

“It’s outstanding on his part. You don’t get many players in this day and age do that. You’re lucky when a player plays 100 games at a club before they move on. For him to do that at one club is a great achievement.

“He’s still here and he’s still involved. He has had a really good career.”
