Argyle v Burton - Pilgrim Punting

2 April 2015

LAST week was perhaps the high watermark for the Pilgrim Punting column.

We forecast a 3-0 win to Argyle at 22/1, as well as tipping up Argyle to win and score three (9/1); win and keep a clean sheet (11/4) and simply to keep a clean sheet (6/4).

So, can we do it all again? Let's see...

Last week's clean sheet at Cheltenham was Argyle's 20th in Sky Bet League 2 this season, from 39 games. This rate of more than one clean sheet a game is an incredible record, and when you consider that the record becomes 13 from 19 at Home Park in the league, it becomes even more impressive. Therefore, a bet on another shut out seems prudent. Sky Bet go 6/4 on Argyle to keep a clean sheet, but quote that there will be no Burton goalscorer - so we recommend you get on the latter.

We will often look for the value bet in this column when it comes to first goalscorer - and we will have a look in a minute - but it would be folly to ignore Reuben Reid. After another pair of goals on Saturday against Cheltenham, Reuben moved onto 19 for the season. He has scored the first goal eight times in Argyle matches this season - more than anyone else - and can be backed for that role on Good Friday at 9/2. Fancy a little more value? Try Reuben to score in the first 10 minutes at 18/1.

If you are to look elsewhere in the side for value, then how about looking to Peter Hartley, at 28/1? Peter has got five goals this season - bear in mind Burton's top goalscorers have only got six - and might well be due another as he makes his way forward from back to front to get on the end of a set-piece.

What's that? You want even more value? Well, you drive a hard bargain, but we will give you it - go for Hartley to score the first goal in a 1-0 Argyle victory. That is a whopping 100/1 with Sky Bet
