One Aim

19 February 2015

ARGYLE manager John Sheridan wants in-form forward Lewi Alessandra to focus on nothing other than firing the Pilgrims to promotion.

The 26-year-old goes into Saturday’s Devon Expressway Derby having scored in each of Argyle’s last three winning games and with questions already being asked about whether he will extend his stay at Home Park next season.

Lewi’s two-year deal concludes at the end of the current campaign and John has spoken to him about a new contract, but does not want any distractions for his number seven.

“He’s an important player for us and he’s playing really well at the moment, so I just want him to concentrate on that – carry on scoring goals,” said John.

“Hopefully, if we are where we want to be at the end of the season, I think there’s a very good chance Lewi will stay with us, but it’s his decision at the end of the day. Obviously, he’s got a little one.

“I spoke to Lewi about five months ago about a new contract. Lewi knows where I stand regarding that; he knows that I want him to stay.

“He’s very happy here; he’s a good lad; the lads really like him; and he’s playing really well. He’s comfortable where he is, but it’ll be Lewi’s decision.”
