Sky Bet Preview: Argyle 2/1 to beat Portsmouth

SATURDAY’S Sky Bet League Two game between Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth takes place at Home Park, kicking off at 3pm. This will be the 100th meeting between the two sides.

We have had analysed previous games and meetings between the two sides to help you wow your mates in the ground, win in an obscure pub quiz and hopefully gain a quid or two.

Despite Argyle being five points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two, and having won nine and drawn one of their last ten league games, the Pilgrims are NOT favourites for this game, according to the bookies.

Sky Bet go 2/1 on Argyle to win this game, with Portsmouth only 11/8. The draw is 23/10.

Argyle have won three of the last eight games against Portsmouth, and drawn two. Six out of the last eight meetings between Argyle and Portsmouth have resulted in both teams scoring at least one goal. Sky Bet has both teams to score at 8/11. For extra value, both teams to score in first half is 7/2; both teams to score in second half is 5/2; and both teams to score in both halves 16/1.

Sonny Bradley has been finding form of late; as well as being nominated for Sky Bet Player of the Month and being named in the FIFA17 Team of the Week, he hit the back of the net twice for the Pilgrims (as well as an own goal for Stevenage!) in the last game. Sky Bet have Bradley to score first this time at 28/1 and to score a brace at 100/1. If he continues his current form this is could be a nice little money maker – against his old club, too.

Jake Jervis has also both previously played for Portsmouth, and is Argyle’s current joint top goalscorer, with five goals. He is at 11/2 to score first and to score two at 10/1. Our other five-goal man, Graham Carey, has got four of his goals at Home Park. He is 15/2 to notch first, and to score two at 16/1.
