FRD - Key Dates

KEY DATES 2018-19

Saturday, August 4
Here we go, here we go, here we go – our first game back in our second season in Sky Bet League One, away to Walsall. We played Walsall in our first game of 2018 last season, when we won with a goal from Ryan Taylor.

Saturday, August 11
The first home game of the new season, against Southend United. Last time we played them saw a 4-0 thrashing at Home Park with two goals each from Ruben Lameiras and Graham Carey.

Saturday, August 18
We travel to our Argyle Legend Super Luke McCormick’s home town for our first meeting with Coventry City since 2014, when they beat us 2-0 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Tuesday, August 21
The first midweek game of the campaign against Wycombe Wanderers, resuming a rivalry that has included the League Two play-off double defeat in the 2014-15 season.

Saturday, September 1
Away to Portsmouth – our first Dockyard Derby of the season which sees the 104th meeting between Pompey and Guz. We lost 1-0 at Fratton Park last season, when Remi Matthews was badly hurt.

Saturday, September 8
Our “local” derby and shortest trip of the campaign at Bristol Rovers, exactly a week after our second-shortest trip.

Tuesday, October 2
Our first away midweek game (of only two) of the season, at Oakwell, where we last played in 2010 – and won with goals from Carl Fletcher, Jamie Mackie and a worldy from ex-Tyke Rory Fallon.

Saturday, November 3
Arguably our biggest fixture of the season – our first meeting of the season with Sunderland, who were in the Premier League just two seasons ago. We last faced the Black Cats when we were in the Championship in the 2006-07 season, and won 3-2 at the Stadium of Light thanks to gals from David Norris, Barry Hayles and Nick Chadwick.

Saturday, November 17
Our first away trip to Luton since February 2017, and the chance to renew acquaintances with Sonny Bradley and Jake Jervis.

Saturday, December 23
The last game before Christmas – celebrate with us as we host League Two champions Accrington Stanley looking to avenge a 1-0 April Fool’s Day defeat in 2017.

Wednesday, December 26
Our annual Boxing Day trip this year sees us take a 422-mile trip to AFC Wimbledon. The last time we played them saw David Fox’s only goal of the 2017-18 campaign as well as the memorable goal celebration from Don Lyle Taylor which was then re-enacted by our own Ruben Lameiras. Can much more excitement can come out of one match?

Saturday, December 29
We have played at Burton four times and never won. Our only point there came from a 1-1 draw in 2015, Reuben Reid scoring.

Tuesday, January 1
Name a better way to start off the New Year than with a visit from Oxford United and our old friend Curtis Nelson.

Saturday, February 2
Away to Peterborough. Let us just remember that red and yellow cards for benches are being introduced this season.

Tuesday, March 12
Our final Tuesday night fixture of the season sees us host Shrewsbury Town, who ever-so-slightly missed out on a Championship spot. Another big game for the Pilgrims, not least of all Joe Riley and Antoni Sarcevic.

Friday, March 30
The Good Friday fixture sees an away trip to our Gillingham. Our last visit to Priestfield was the final game of the 2017-18 season where an injury-hit side lost rather drastically, 5-2.

Monday, April 22
Home to Barnsley on Easter Monday. A lot easier than our previous Easter Monday trip to Scunthorpe, thankfully.

Saturday, May 5
The final fixture of the 2018-19 campiagn - Scunthorpe United. At home! 5.30pm kick-off.

Saturday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 16
Play-off Semi-Finals

Sunday, May 27
