Rovers, Cats, Ashes and Basils

ARGYLE have four games across four different competitions and a busy 24 hours of football.

The action begins with the visit of Bristol Rovers in the Merit League. The game will kick-off at 11am at Callington Town Football Club and we would like to thank everyone at Callington for welcoming us, and allowing our team to use their facility.

While the first-team do battle with Sunderland in Sky Bet League One, there is another big game kicking-off at 3pm but far closer to home.

Argyle make the very short trip to play Saltash United in the Carlsberg South-West Peninsula League and three points a must for the Pilgrims in their pursuit of leaders Exmouth in this competition, but the Ashes are always one of the toughest opponents in Peninsula football.

Argyle Ladies travel to C&K Basildon on Sunday in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division and there will be five changes to the squad that defeated QPR last weekend.

Joint-manager Trevor Rodd paid tribute to goalkeeper Lindsay Rogers, who has moved on from the Pilgrims and will be replaced in the squad by Sarah Prior. “I would like to place on record our thanks to Lindsay and the club wishes her the best for the future,” said Trevor.

Greece Under-20 international Panagiota Papaioannou is away with the national team and also absent are Steph Beck, Amber Pollock and Darcey Hepworth. Teenage striker Nicola Champion comes into the squad for the first time, along with Tamsin Medd-Gill and Kelly Vinnicombe, as the development side have a blank weekend.
