Versatile midfielder Joe Edwards swapped his energetic on-field role for a spot of modelling ahead of the Greens’ 20/21 kit reveal.
Edwards, 29, was joined by teammates Byron Moore and Dom Telford at the kit photo shoot earlier this week, with the first of the team's new replica kits, the home strip, available on the Argyle Superstore from Thursday, May 28.
He said: “[The kit] is lovely. The three of the kits are all really good. I think the away one is my favourite, it’s really nice. I can’t wait to wear them on a Saturday.”
While Edwards and his colleagues have not played since their comfortable 3-0 home victory over Macclesfield Town on March 7, they remain in constant touch with the leadership team at Home Park.
“We’ve had individual programmes to do, although in the last couple of weeks we’ve been having a bit of a rest. We’ve been doing home runs and sending them into the club,” said Joe, who was manager Ryan Lowe’s first signing in the summer of 2019.
“We’ve been doing a few Zoom calls, we did them as part of our fitness stuff with John [Lucas, Head of Fitness and Conditioning]. We’ve had a couple just as players as well – catching up and seeing how each other is getting on, which has been nice.”
Of course, there is no substitute for the real thing, and attending the 20/21 kit photoshoot this week allowed Joe to meet up with his teammates for the first time in a while – although the two-month absence has clearly not dampened team spirit.
Edwards joked: “It was lovely to see Byron – and Dom was there too! We were just chatting then, you miss being in the changing room, seeing the boys and having that sort of banter, so it’s been nice.”
While the Greens continue to endure a frustrating wait for confirmation of the 19/20 Sky Bet League Two season’s end, Argyle’s no.8 has been able to enjoy some quality time at home with his young family.
“I’ve been very busy,” said Joe. “Having two little seven-month-old twins at home have been keeping me busy, so it’s been good.”
