Ladies on the Run

Plymouth Argyle Women FC are completing a superb running challenge that started on Monday.

Over the next month, the Pilgrim ladies aim to run a total of 760 miles, to simulate the distance from John O’Groats to Home Park.

All money raised will be split between the Women’s football club and Hugs Childrens Cancer Charity.

“We are not able to train at the moment, so this challenge just gives us some extra incentive to stay fit,” said manager Ryan Perks.

“I’ve set the girls a number of challenges through the lockdown period and that hopefully keeps them sharp and fit, if and when the season resumes.

“The information we’ve had at the moment is that the authorities still want to get the season going again but it is very difficult to see what will happen.

“It is particularly difficult when the Women’s Super League and Championship are still playing because they will have to work out which clubs are promoted are relegated.

“Everything has a knock-on effect and we in the tier below the Championship. Our mindset is that the season will resume and we want to be as fit as possible for that possible eventuality.
