Argyle Academy applaud fans as game is postponed

Academy 'Play on the Pitch' Day

Sync Fixtures

Sunday, 30 April will see the return of the ‘Play on the Pitch’ Day for the Argyle Academy.

Games will take place throughout the day, on the Home Park pitch, featuring a variety of age group teams, some of whom will be getting their first chance to play on the hallowed turf.

The day will start with local Under-7 and Under-8 sides playing small-sided fixtures, before Argyle’s youth teams from Under-9 up to Under-14s will all be in action in games against their counterparts from Bristol Rovers. Argyle’s Under-15s will also have a fixture, on the full Home Park pitch, against Southampton.

For many years, the Argyle Academy has been a fundamental part of the foundations of the football club, and with a series of off-field developments and investments, has never been in better shape.

With the first team performing so admirably at the top of Sky Bet League One, and with serious Championship aspirations, the Home Park future is bright in more ways than one.

Argyle Academy Manager Phil Stokes said: "We are grateful we are to the club, the first-team coaching staff and the grounds team for providing our Academy players with this opportunity. This is our third consecutive season for the Academy age groups playing on the pitch and it is a day that the staff, players and parents look forward to each season. It’s a fantastic day for everyone involved.

"It’s also brilliant for our Academy sponsors that are able to attend on Sunday and watch the age group they have been helping throughout the 23/24 season - their support is appreciated by everyone in the Academy."

Play on the Pitch Day is not an event for the general public, but family and friends of players will be in attendance to cheer them on.

Who knows: maybe they will be doing so for the Argyle first team in the not-too-distant future.
