An incredible 4,000-plus Ginsters pasties, slices, and sausage rolls have been distributed across Plymouth this week through Project 35, providing vital meals for families and individuals living in temporary accommodation over the Christmas period.

Home Park was a hive of activity with Pledge 35 volunteers, Argyle Community Trust staff, Ginsters staff, and Plymouth City Council, through the Plymouth Youth Service, collecting and distributing Ginsters products to strategic drop-off points where they could be accessed by those in need.

Data and research performed by Plymouth City Council identified the need to support those facing the prospect of a wait to be re-homed, and targeted 24 accommodation providers, including hotels and bed and breakfasts, across the city to provide support packages which included tasty Ginsters pasties and slices.

Ginsters Brand Communications Co-ordinator Debbie Moss said: “We were unaware of how many families weren’t in their own homes, particularly over the Christmas period. To be able to do our bit and provide food during this time is heart-warming for us. We’re really proud to be a part of this.”

Argyle Community Trust Head of Community Engagement Dan Hart added: “We are so grateful to Ginsters for providing us with products to support so many people living without food and access to refrigeration in our city.”

James Richen was one of the Pledge 35 volunteers giving up their time to deliver products to the community: “I think this is an excellent idea. There are a lot of families struggling at the moment with rising costs. As a Pledge 35 volunteer, I feel that I am doing something for the local community.”

Project 35, in partnership with Ginsters, has already delivered over 25,000 Ginsters products to those most in need since its inception in June, and has had a profound effect on the lives of children and adults in Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall.
