Plymouth Argyle Academy is delighted to further its relationship with Chivenor Soccer, continuing a long-standing bond that has provided a strong pathway for talented young footballers in North Devon and beyond.

Chivenor Soccer has played an integral role in supporting player development across the region, with many of its graduates going on to represent the Academy at all levels.

Currently, 16 signed players within the Academy have come through Chivenor Soccer, including current scholars Oscar Dean and goalkeeper Leo McCormick. First-year professional Joseph Hatch, who has already featured for the first team during the 2025/26 season, also came through the provision.

Phil Stokes, Academy Manager at Plymouth Argyle, said: "We are really pleased to continue our long-term relationship with Chivenor Soccer, an organisation that has consistently produced talented players who have gone on to thrive within our Academy system. The fact that we currently have 15 signed Academy players from Chivenor, including scholars and even a young professional making his mark with the first team, highlights the strength of this pathway. We look forward to continuing our close relationship and building on the success we’ve already shared.”

Joe Broad, Chivenor Soccer, said: "We are incredibly proud to continue to work with Plymouth Argyle. Seeing so many of our players progress into the Academy, and even make appearances for the first team, is a huge source of pride for everyone at Chivenor Soccer. Our focus has always been to create the best possible environment for young players to enjoy their football, learn, and develop — and working closely with Argyle gives them a genuine opportunity to take that next step. We’re excited to carry this relationship forward and help even more young players realise their potential."

Reflecting on his own journey, Hatch said: "Starting out with Chivenor Soccer gave me the chance to fall in love with the game and develop the basics that have helped me get to where I am now. The coaches created such a positive environment and gave me the belief that I could push myself. To come through Chivenor, join Argyle’s Academy, and now play for the first team is something I’m really proud of — and I’m grateful for the support I’ve had along the way.”

The continuation of work will ensure Chivenor Soccer and Plymouth Argyle Academy continue to work hand-in-hand, providing opportunities and pathways for aspiring footballers to progress from grassroots football into the professional game.
