'We're Getting There' Says Fletch
1st August 2012
AFTER Argyle ground out a 2-1 victory over a plucky Tiverton side, Carl Fletcher remained in a particularly optimistic mood.
Goals from Luke Young and a 90th minute winner from Darren Purse were enough to see off Tivvy on a night when Fletch chose to experiment, opting to play in a 4-3-3 formation instead of the usual 4-4-2.All things considered, Fletch was pleased with the results.
“It’s good to get the win,” he said.
“We played a different formation today and we wanted to do it so we can get used to it in case we want to change it up during the season.
“It was a good workout and I want to say thanks to Tiverton for allowing us to come here.”
Tonight’s result see’s the Pilgrims on a run of three straight victories in pre-season, something that Fletch has been impressed by.
He said: “Pre-season has been good.
“I’ve played in loads of these games over the years and you have to have your attitude right and we’ve done that.
“I’m not too fussed about results but it’s pleasing to get the wins and tonight was good.
“It’s only a couple of weeks now until the start of the season and we’re getting there.”
