Forest Green Ladies 2 Argyle Ladies 3

ARGYLE Ladies booked their place in the second round of this year's FA Cup with a terrific battling performance in Gloucestershire on Sunday.

They took a 3rd minute lead following a Katie Middleton free kick. The home defences clearance fell to Daisy Self 14 yards out, and she promptly shot into the top of the net.

A few minutes later, Jodie Chubb had a great chance to put the Pilgrims two up when she raced through to a one on one with the keeper, but shot just wide of the mark.

Rovers equalised on 15 minutes; a free-kick from the edge of the box beating Michaela Phillips low to her right hand side.

In the second half, Forest Green took the lead against the run of play following a defensive lapse on the hour.

But Argyle kept piling on the pressure and, as a result of that pressure, a defender was unfortunate to concede an own-goal to put the teams level just ten minutes from time.

And so the match went into extra time where Argyle eventually edged in front when Rebekah Rose, with the final kick of the first period, converted a penalty after being tripped in the box.

The remaining period was end to end, and Emily Mousley was denied from making the game safe by a fine save by the home keeper.

Overall, Argyle had been the better side and created the better chances and were well worth their victory which went some way to avenging a home defeat in the league a few weeks ago.
