Macca's Ultimate Finish

ALEX MacDonald’s cheeky free-kick against Oxford United has been nominated for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Ultimate Finish award.

Macca’s first-half set piece gave the Pilgrims a 1-0 lead in the recent area quarter-final at Home park but sadly, it was not enough to win the game. Argyle were later eliminated from the competition on penalties.

Four other net-busting scorchers have been selected for the short-list to find the best goal from the Area Quarter-Finals and supporters have now been left with the demanding task of selecting a winner.

Fans have the chance to watch exclusive video of each sensational strike and vote for their favourite effort on the official Johnstone’s Paint Trophy website.

The five shortlisted goals from the Area Quarter-Finals are:
GOAL A: Alex MacDonald for PLYMOUTH ARGYLE v Oxford United
GOAL B: Kevan Hurst for SOUTHEND UNITED v Brentford
GOAL C: Paul Hayes for BRENTFORD v Southend United
GOAL D: Ritchie Jones for BRADFORD CITY v Port Vale
GOAL E: Edward Upson for YEOVIL TOWN v Wycombe Wanderers.

The winning goal will be announced on the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy website, and all fans that vote for the successful strike will be entered into a special prize draw.

The winning goalscorer will be presented with a Johnstone’s Paint Ultimate Finish Award and one lucky fan who voted for the successful strike will win an iPod Nano.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s marketing manager, Megan Esmond, said: “There have been some super goals shortlisted in the first two rounds and this is no different.

“It’s going to be a tough ask for the supporters to come up with the top goal but I’m sure they will come up with a suitable winner.”
