Keeping Things Perfect

CARL Fletcher believes the signing of Rene Gilmartin gives Argyle the perfect goalkeeping situation.

Rene joins 26-year-old Jake Cole - last season's number one custodian - and youngster Ollie Chenoweth, 20, on the Pilgrims' 2012-13 playing roster.
The 25-year-old Irishman, who was released by Watford at the end of last season, replaces Argyle assistant manager Romain Larrieu, who has made his transition on to the coaching side permanent.
"With Romain retiring, we had a space to fill," said Fletch. "We like competition for places and we've got three good goalkeepers now so it's perfect for us.
"They are all good ages. Ollie's obviously a little bit younger, so he's learning his trade, but we have got three goalies who are all pushing to play.
"We want the same for the outfield players as we have for the goalies. Competition for places."
Rene has more than 50 league games under his belt, including eight alongside Pilgrim Paul Wotton on loan at Yeovil last season.
"We've had him on the radar for a little while," said Carl.
"Paul Wotton played with him last year and gave him a glowing reference, and everyone we have spoken to has confirmed what we felt anyway.
"It'll be great to get him in - another new face in the dressing-room."
