Youth Cup Report: Oxford 3 Argyle 2

ARGYLE'S youngsters may be out of this year's FA Youth Cup, but they went down fighting against an Oxford side that has won its last 11 games.
The young Pilgrims had the better of the first half; deservedly taking a 26th minute lead when Christian Walton’s long clearance was helped on by Matt Lecointe for Tyler Harvey to further enhance his growing reputation with a clever finish.Oxford hit back in first half stoppage time as the Pilgrims failed to clear their line,s but even then Jermaine Udumaga’s shot took a big deflection before rolling into the corner of the Argyle goal.
Oxford came out with all guns blazing at the start of the second half with James Roberts drive also taking a wicked deflection to wrong-foot Walton and give the U’s a 53rd minute lead.
Argyle came back strongly and were level on 67 minutes when Joshua Hutchinson was taken out in the area for Lecointe to send home ‘keeper Josh Hill the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Argyle went for victory but were caught out seven minutes from time when Roberts fired home from 12 yards after the visitor’s defence had failed to clear a corner.
