Bristol Rovers Youth 1 Argyle Youth 1

ARGYLE'S youngsters made it three games without defeat in the Football League Youth Allicance South West Conference...

...with this point against a Rovers outfit who were certainly the strongest side that they had faced this season.

Both teams tested each other out in midfield for the opening quarter before Tyler Harvey forced a good save out of the Pirates 'keeper on 20 minutes.

Rovers were the next to show, going close on two occasions with shots that flew over Christian Walton's bar.

The best first half chance fell to the visitors when Solomon Wheatley headed River Allen's precise cross just wide from eight yards.

Bristol came strong towards the end of the first half and Walton was forced to push one effort around his post whilst was blocked by skipper James Bradley.

The second half saw Argyle have a great chance on 48 minutes but Harvey's goalbound shot was blocked by the home defence.

The game continued to be a close affair and it was Rovers who created the next chance when a 70th minute drive was gathered by Walton.

The deadlock was finally broken, five minutes later, when in-form striker Harvey shot low across the Pirates 'keeper after good work from full-back Colin Watson.

Once again the home side finished a half stronger and only a fine save by Walton, in a one-on-one situation preserved Argyle's lead three minutes from time.

Unfortunately Walton could not repeat his heroics on the stroke of full time as Jamie Lucas broke clear to round the Argyle 'keeper and slot the ball into an empty net.
