Enjoy The Game

CARL Fletcher is now very firmly considered as a manger these days, but it was not long since the Wales international was bossing midfields and terrorising opponents.

Looking back to when his days were focused exclusively on playing, he recalls how he used to like to play the game – and is trying to get his players to do the same.

“I don’t want the players to go out and not enjoy playing the game,” he said, “Whenever I played and we used to boot it long I never used to enjoy it.

"These years when you are a professional footballer you should be enjoying the game. I don’t want them chasing second balls and not getting a touch, not seeing the ball for five or ten minutes.

“I want them to go out there, express themselves, make sure we are organised when we haven’t got it.

"But when we are on it, they have a licence to look after the football, keep it for their team mates and enjoy it.”
