Banton Goes Back

PILGRIMS’ loan star Jason Banton is returning to Crystal Palace.

The Pilgrims’ leading goalscorer has been recalled from his Home Park loan early by his parent club.

Jason, 20, made his final appearance in an Argyle shirt as a substitute in the Pilgrims’ defeat at Burton on Saturday.

His form for the Pilgrims since joining from Championship side Palace in February led to him being named the npower League 2 Player of the Month for March.

In total, he scored six goals for Argyle during his memorable 14-game spell, including the winner in the Devon Expressway Derby against Exeter at Home Park, and both goals in a 2-1 away victory at Aldershot.

Such form has lifted Argyle away from trouble at the wrong end of League 2 and won recognition from the Football League.

However, it has also alerted Palace’s former Argyle manager Ian Holloway of his potential benefit to a faltering promotion bid by a side that has not won for five games and not scored in the last four of them.

So, instead of remaining at Home Park for the final three games of the campaign as planned, Jason has been recalled to South London.

Everyone at Argyle thanks Jason for his considerable contribution to the Green cause and wishes him all the best for what we believe and hope will be a glittering future career.
