Strong Semi Squad

NICK Chadwick, Durrell Berry and Paris Cowan-Hall have been named in a strong Argyle squad set to face Exeter City in the semi-final of the St Luke’s Challenge Cup on Tuesday.

Other regular first-team squad faces in the squad for the game at Home Park are Rene Gilmartin, Anthony Charles, Tyler Harvey and Ronan Murray.

Argyle, who thrashed Witheridge 7-2 in the quarter-final game back in February, also beat Ivybridge Town earlier on in the competition thanks to an early goal from Isaac Vassell.

The game was in its 15th minute when Warren Feeney’s low cross found Vassell at the back post who slotted home.

Despite their best efforts it was the only goal of a match that the Pilgrims, whose side contained eight professionals, dominated against their non-league opponents.

Matt Lecointe had several chances to add to the lead before Tyler Harvey hit the post. Robbie Williams and River Allen also both went close before Harvey, again, smacked the woodwork.

In the next round, Argyle comfortably dispatched Witheridge at Edge Down Park.

A superb hat-trick from now first-team regular Argentinean winger Andres Gurrieri was added to with two strikes from Isaac Vassell as well as goals from Luke Young and Jamie Richards.

Argyle coach Kevin Nancekivell said after the game: “It was a good result and a decent performance on what proved to be a difficult surface.

“I thought the players’ application and attitude was spot on and I was pleased to win so comprehensively.”

Exeter made it through to this stage of the competition after defeating Willand Rovers on penalties following a 1-1 draw before a comprehensive 4-1 win at Tiverton Town.

The match kicks off at 7.30pm on Tuesday night. Entry is only £4 for adults and £2 for concessions.
