Having A Look At Hamza

MIDFIELDER Hamza Bencherif will continue to train with the Pilgrims for the next few weeks.

Hamza, 25, played 78 minutes of the Pilgrims development friendly defeat to Bristol City on Tuesday and Argyle manager John Sheridan is keen to keep him around for a little bit longer.

“I know what Hamza’s all about,” said John.

“He’s played against my teams a couple of times. He’s been strong and he’s got a presence about him so we’ll have a look at him and see how he gets on.

“I think he lacks match fitness. He played in the game the other day and he did okay but you can see clearly that he hasn’t done a pre-season and fitness-wise, he’s way behind the other players.

“He’s training with us for a couple of days and we’ll see how it goes.”

Hamza began his career with Nottingham Forest but left for Macclesfield Town before making a first team appearance.

The Paris-born former Algerian under-20 made over 60 appearances for the Moss Rose side, scoring 16 goals in a two-year period.

When he left the Silkmen in 2011, he returned to Nottingham once more, but this time signed for Notts County, where he has spent the last two seasons.
