INJURY-hit Argyle only had two second year apprentices available for this Football League Youth Alliance game played at Leominster Town's Bridge Street ground.

Academy Manager Kevin Hodges gave right back Billy Palfrey and midfielder Jack Calver, two 15-year-olds, from Looe, their debuts.

Home striker Ben Williams netted the match-winning goal on 15 minutes, breaking through the middle to beat 'keeper Tom McHale with a low shot from 12 yards.

Both teams of missed chances with Ryan Lane hitting a close range shot on to the home upright and Solomon Wheatley, pictured, fired straight at the home custodian as Argyle pressed an equaliser.

Later in the first half a promising run, down the left, an pull-back by Callum Hall was wasted when River Allen shot straight at the 'keeper.

In the second half Wheatley sent a 20 yard shot on to the home crossbar and late on substitute Ethan Stark was twice put clear only to shoot straight at the keeper on the first occasion and wide of the mark on the second.
