Len's The Special Guest

FORMER Argyle captain Len Casey is our special guest at Saturday’s Sky Bet League 2 opener at Southend United.

Len, now 82, who lives near Southend, will be seated in the Directors’ Box, with his daughter Lesley and grandson Matthew.

Wing-half Len, now 82, came to Home Park from Chelsea with team-mate Wally Bellett, and both were a crucial part of the 1958-59 Division 3 (now League 1) title-winning campaign under manager Jack Rowley.

Len was captain of the team and gave his most accomplished performance in a green shirt at Southend in a 0-0 draw on January 24, 1959.

He is an MBE, by dint of his post-football services to industrial training in Dagenham Cables Company, and is really looking forward to the day.
