Frosty The Showman

ARGYLE head groundsman Matt Frost will be the speaker at this week's meeting of the Senior Greens.

On Thursday, at 2pm, in the Green Taverners' Suite,  Matt will give an insight into a truly unprecedented career in the football industry that has seen him ply his trade at several of the world’s most famous stadia, events and football clubs.

For the last 25 years - from the old Wembley Stadium to Home Park -  Matt has set out to deliver special surfaces all over the world.

Matt has been responsible for producing surfaces at 13 National Stadiums, three consecutive Olympic Games, the FIFA Football and IRB Rugby World Cups and 4 UEFA Champions League Finals.

Nicknamed the 'Plastic Terminator' due to his hatred of synthetic pitches and famously growing the 2008 Champions League final natural pitch over a plastic one during a Russian winter where the average temperature was minus 5 degrees!

Matt has experienced some incredible highs - five doubles and a treble; a grand slam; a conversation with Pavarotti and a strange encounter with Eric Clapton's shoes.

There have been lows, too; a club's liquidation, a terrorist bombing and a run in with the real Italian Mafia amongst them.

Join Matt for a presentation sure to be entertaining and informative, followed by a question and answer session, this Thursday.
