Keeper Swap

ARGYLE goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin looks set to miss most of the Pilgrims’ February campaign as a result of the hamstring injury he suffered in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Accrington Stanley.

“It’s the same injury that he missed the previous week’s training with,” confirmed manager John Sheridan. “He’s just aggravated it.

“I’m not sure how long he’s going to be. Three or four weeks, I think, because it’s a grade one [tear].”

It brings to an end a run of 14 straight starts for the Irishman who was signed from Watford last summer.

The gloves return to the season’s starter, Jake Cole, who came off the bench to replace Rene against Accrington and distinguished himself with an injury-time save from James Beattie’s free-kick.

“It gives an opportunity to Jake to come in,” confirmed John. “He made a great save near the end and he didn’t do himself any harm.”
