Ready To Work
2nd July 2013
ARGYLE manager John Sheridan is delighted with his new-look coaching team.
First-team coach Sean McCarthy and Performance Manager John Harbin have now been in their new roles a week, and, alongside John and assistant Gary Owers, have been putting the players through their pre-season paces."[Sean's] experienced,” said John. “He’s played here and he coached in the Championship last season.
"I felt it’s important that, if someone was available, we brought him in.
"I’ve known him for a number of years as a player and he’s very highly regarded.
"I’ve always had four coaches wherever I’ve gone and Sean fits into that.
“Hopefully they’ll work the way I want them to work.”
John Harbin also has prior experience of working alongside John.
Shez said: "I worked under [John Harbin] as a player and I was 39 so I didn’t have to do much work. I was lucky!
"I like the way he works; I like the way he treats people, he works very hard but, if you have a good relationship with him, you’ll enjoy working with him.
"I think the players will give him a lot of respect."
Meanwhile, John’s brother Darren Sheridan will head up the club's scouting operation.
"Darren again has valuable experience. He’s played in the Premiership and managed in the conference last year and I trust his judgement on players.
"I’ve got Darren and I’ve got another scout, Dave Meckin.
"I’d like to think that one will work more north and one will work more south.
“That way we’ll get everything covered, and myself and my staff will also be going to games."
