Bideford Home

ARGYLE will begin their defence of the Devon St Luke’s Cup against Bideford at Home Park.

The tie will be a second round match, with both sides having received a bye in the first round.

Although no date has yet been set for the tie, by the rules of the competition, it must take place before October 31, 2013.

The Pilgrims last met Bideford at the quarter final stage of this competition in February 2011.

Goalkeeper Ollie Chenoweth was the Argyle's hero as they prevailed 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out.

After a 2-2 draw in normal time - with Argyle's goals coming from apprentices Matt Rickard and Jordan Copp - the Pilgrims were forced to spot-kicks.

Then, during the shoot out, first year professional Chenoweth showed great athleticism in making a fantastic save from the first Bideford spot kick to help his side into the next round.

With the Robins' putting their third spot kick over the bar and the Pilgrims' Jim Paterson, Bondz N'Gala, Jack Stephens and Rickard confidently converting theirs, the Greens (who were actually wearing an all-white strip) knocked-out the trophy holders.
