Sea Of Green

HOME Park will be transformed into a sea of green and white for Saturday’s eagerly-anticipated Devon Expressway Derby.

With ticket sales in advance of the Argyle-Exeter game running at 500% up on average Home Park matches, a five-figure crowd is guaranteed for a game in which much more than local bragging rights are at stake.

Hosts Argyle need points to ensure they avoid dropping out of the Football League, while visitors Exeter are chasing promotion to League 1.

Pilgrims’ fans are determined to play their part as Argyle’s 12th man in creating an atmosphere to lift the team.

They have been planning the biggest ever match-day display at the Theatre of Greens.

Steve Riggs, of fans’ group Forza Verde 1886, and his assistants have spent a huge amount of time and effort making the display happen.

Fans sitting in Blocks 1-15 will find either a green or a white card on their seats when they arrive at the ground for the 1pm kick-off.

They will raise the cards as soon as the two teams take to the pitch and hold them high until after the teams finish shaking hands prior to the first whistle.

Organisers say it would also be fantastic if the Green Army cranking up the volume and atmosphere to maximum could accompany the display.

Argyle president Chris Webb said: “For 90 minutes, the lads on the pitch will have to battle for the pride of the county.

“Off it, let’s lead the way, pre-match, by showing there is only one team in Devon.”
