Striker Search
14th March 2013
ARGYLE manager John Sheridan is still on the lookout for a striker as the Pilgrims turn for the home straight in the 2013-14 npower League 2 season.
Gozie Ugwu’s return to Reading has left John a man down but he has not given up hope of brining in another body.John said: “It’s an area I’m definitely looking at.
“If I can, I’m going to try and bring another striker in. I think we need to get something from somewhere so I’m working very hard to get a good striker in that can hopefully keep us in the division.“
Football League rules state that no more than five loan players can be named in a match-day squad.
This means that should John be successful in acquiring his desire goalscorer, one of Ronan Murray, Jason Bantom, Joe Bryan, Lee Cox or Reuben Reid, would be forced to miss out.
Does that bother him?
“If it enables me to get a striker in who I think is going to score goals, then no,” he said.
“It will be tough leaving someone who is on loan but I’ve got to think of what we can gain.
“All I’m thinking of is someone scoring goals and hopefully keeping us up.
“I’ve been trying for the experienced ones since I’ve came here. I’ll just get someone who I think is going to help us and score goals, whether he’s 19, 25, 30, I’ve got to get someone in who can give us a boost.
“I think it’ll be too much for this Saturday’s game but I’m still trying and looking.”
