30th March 2013
ARGYLE'S youngsters consolidated third place in the Football League Youth Alliance Southern Section after this comfortable victory over the Wiltshire Robins.
Academy boss Kevin Hodges gave a debut to 17-year-old goalkeeper Tom McHale, a Torpoint lad who is in his first year with Argyle's Football in the Community.McHale celebrated his call-up by keeping a clean sheet as Hodges would have been expecting a vast improvement from his squad, after losing 2-0 at home to second place Bristol Rovers in their last outing.
Argyle opened their account on 20 minutes when good play between Matt Lecointe, pictured, and Joshua Hutchinson ended with the latter firing low past the Robins goalkeeper from 10 yards.
Swindon were still reeling as Argyle doubled their lead as James Bradley's through ball put in Lecointe to calmly lob the ball over the onrushing 'keeper.
The scoring was completed, eight minutes before the break when Ryan Lane's right wing corner found Aaron Bentley heading home from close range.
Argyle should have pushed home their advantage after the break as Lecointe, Lane and Hutchinson all failed to hit the target when well placed.
