Argyle U18s 3 Torquay U18s 0
16th September 2013
FIRST year apprentice striker Ethan Stark was the star of the show at Langsford Park, Tavistock as he scored two and made the other in this comfortable victory for the young Pilgrims.
To their credit, Torquay started the game well but it was Argyle who were to create the goalscoring opportunities.Stark, pictured, saw his ninth minute low drive saved by Nial Osborne and when he followed up Jamie Alexandriou made a fine goal-line clearance.
The Gulls replied with Mickey Parcell firing just wide from 22 yards before Solomon Wheatley wasted a great chance when Ryan Lane's free kick found him free in the area only to head wide.
Argyle finally made the initial breakthrough on 32 minutes when Starks good feet saw him make way in the area only to be bundled over and give Joshua Hutchinson the opportunity to fire the penalty low to Osborne's left.
The young Greens were forced to reorganised just three minutes into the second half as Aaron Bentley limped out of the action to be replaced by Callum Hall.
That did not appear to disrupt their rythmn as Nathan Summers headed River Allen's corner wide before they doubled their lead on 70 minutes.
Torquay gave the ball away 20 yards from goal and Wheatley put in Stark to fire a fine shot into the net from the edge of the area.
Torquay's first real effort on target arrived two minutes later when substitute Cianan Breen's 18 yard drive brought a good save out of Andrew Hannah.
Argyle's third, and final goal, arrived three minutes from time as Hutchinson provided a great pass to put in Stark who showed a cool head as he slotted a low drive past the advancing Osborne.
