Gary the Ref
25th April 2014
GARY Sutton is the referee for our final home fixture of the 2013-14 Sky Bet League 2 campaign, against Hartlepool.
It will be the second time Gary has taken charge of Argyle this season; he was the man in the middle when we took on Mansfield Town at Field Mill in October. On that occasion, the concept of Trotman Time was born, as Neal Trotman's winning goal, deep into injury time, won the points for Argyle.Gary has refereed Argyle on three other occasions. Perhaps the most notable was a 3-1 win in 2012 against Rochdale when three penalties were awarded, two to Argyle, which were converted by Guy Madjo. Gary was also in charge of a 1-1 draw at home to Oxford two seasons ago, and a 2-0 loss at Crawley earlier that campaign.
Gary has officiated Hartlepool more than any other club, being the whistle-blower in their matches 11 times, the first coming in February 2006. They have had mixed results, winning four, drawing three and losing four of Gary's games in charge.
This season, Gary has refereed 28 games, issuing 82 yellow cards and six reds. He has awarded ten penalties.
