Double Fitness Boost

ARGYLE have received a timely boost on the eve of the new Sky Bet League 2 campaign...

...with the news that two players who have not managed a full game between them in pre-season are fit and raring to go.

Forward Deane Smalley, who came to Home Park in the summer from Oxford United, and midfielder Dominic Blizzard came through a midweek training session with manager John Sheridan and are in the Pilgrims’ party for Saturday’s curtain-raiser at Cambridge United.

“Smalley and Dom are fit – they’ll be involved on Saturday,” confirmed John. “It’s like getting two new players; it just makes your squad look a bit more healthy.

“I would have liked them to have played more football, but they have worked very hard, and they’re getting there. They got thought everything I wanted them to. There’s not a problem with them.

“It’s very pleasing as it just adds to the squad. We’ve had to have a few younger players on the bench, just because we’ve been short. To get two first-team payers back fit and available is a bonus for us.”
