In Contention

ARGYLE’S captain and vice-captain are both back in contention for the Pilgrims’ first game of 2015.

Curtis Nelson and Peter Hartley sat out Christmas, with, respectively, an elbow and groin injury, but have returned to training since Sunday’s home defeat by Oxford United and are pencilled in for this weekend’s Sky Bet League 2 trip to York.

“They trained today,” said Argyle manager John Sheridan, after the New Year’s Eve session at Home Park. “They both came through okay. They’ll train tomorrow and we’ll assess them from there, but both looked okay so we’ll keep fingers crossed and I’ll make a decision tomorrow.

“First and forest, both lads have got to be comfortable in the way they feel. Hopefully, they’ll be okay.

“I don’t want to jump the gun, but I’ve spoken to them and they are both positive. I think Pete’s definitely going to be fit and I think Nelse is 90 per cent. It’s a massive boost.”
