Peter Bloom

ARGYLE’S first home game of 2015 will be an especially poignant one for the club.

The Sky Bet League 2 match against Luton on January 17 will see the Pilgrims pay tribute to former chairman Peter Bloom, who died recently aged 83.

Peter was chairman at Home Park between 1985-91, overseeing one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. Argyle won promotion to what is now the Championship at the end of the 1985-86 season, and remained there until Peter passed on the chairmanship to Dan McCauley in 1991.

He stayed on the Argyle Board as vice-chairman until McCauley sold the Pilgrims to a consortium headed by Paul Stapleton and current Argyle director Peter Jones.

Following consultations with the Bloom family, the club will hold a minute’s applause for Peter before the Luton game. The match falls on the anniversary of his marriage to Muriel, who along with other members of the family, will be special guests of the club.

The Pilgrim match-day programme will also carry a tribute.
