Nigel the Ref
7th February 2014
NIGEL Miller is the referee for Argyle's trip to Northampton Town in Sky Bet League 2 this Saturday.
Mr Miller has refereed Argyle on eight previous occasions, with mixed results for the Pilgrims. His one visit to Home Park yielded a 2-1 victory for the Greens, with Paul Gallagher netting both goals, including one from the spot. He was also the man in the middle for Argyle victories at Coventry City - when Craig Noone grabbed a late winner - and in a memorable win at Chesterfield last season. In his other five games with us,. we have drawn two and lost three. This season, Nigel has only refereed seven Football League matches so far. In them, he has only awarded 13 yellow cards, and no reds. In three of those games, he issued no cards whatsoever. He has, though awarded five penalties in those seven games.
Nigel notably sent off ex-Pilgrim Ashley Barnes while playing for Brighton last season, after the forward tried to trip him up while running. Barnes was dismissed and given a seven-match ban.
