Bitt of a Catch

GOALKEEPER James Bittner has become Argyle's seventh signing of the summer.

Bittner, 32, spent last season with Salisbury City as a player/goalkeeping coach, and now joins Luke McCormick in the goalkeeping ranks at Home Park.

He has signed a one-year contract, and will wear squad number 1.

James made his professional debut for Exeter City in 2003, having been released by Bournemouth, and would go on to make 45 appearances between the stick for the Grecians over two seasons.

After a brief spell at Torquay, James moved to Woking and then on to Salisbury, with whom he had spent time as a junior. After nearly 100 games for Salisbury, James joined Forest Green Rovers in 2010.

After spending two seasons as first choice goalkeeper at Rovers, James moved to Hereford United, playing 37 times in his only season at Edgar Street. Last summer, he returned once more to Salisbury.

James will also assume some responsibilities within the Argyle Community Trust. His role will see him working on a number of programmes including the post-16 Argyle Scholarship programme, coaching Marjon Men’s team, as well as some goalkeeping clinics.

Head of Community Mark Lovell said: "We are delighted to have James as part of our team. We are keen to utilise his expertise which will greatly benefit the local community."
