Paint Bye Numbers

ARGYLE have received a bye in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The south-west section of the first round draw will not feature the Pilgrims, who will go straight into the hat for the round two. Second round fixtures will take place during the week commencing October 6.

The Football League announced earlier today that the competition will be used to trial Vanishing Spray, as used during the recent FIFA World Cup for demonstrating the distance of opposing players at free-kicks.

Football League Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey, said: “Having seen it used in the recent World Cup, the introduction of Vanishing Spray into the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will give us the opportunity to observe its use in domestic football so that we can better understand its effect on the flow of the game.  It will also give us the ability to gauge the opinions of players, managers, referees and fans.”
