All For Run

SINCE its first session in October of 2013, the Argyle Musketeers – the Argyle Community Trust’s junior running club – has grown...

...not only in numbers, but in reputation.

Started as part of the Premier League 4 Sport project, rolled out by a host of Premier and Football League clubs, the Argyle Musketeers are now a self-sustainable Run England-affiliated club. The Musketeers are a junior running club linked to their elder counterparts, the Plymouth Musketeers, who supply expert coaches to work with the young Musketeers, challenging and improving them every week, come rain or shine.

The Musketeers also compete in a monthly 3km series which is held at Central Park on the second Wednesday of every month, giving the young runners the chance to compete against adult runners and running clubs around Plymouth.

The numbers have grown steadily and, despite some challenging weather between November and March, the club has attracted close to 80 athletes and regularly has around 15 runners attending. This number is growing as the weather improves.

The Musketeers will be running right through the summer, when some other Premier League 4 Sports sessions have a break. They meet at Home Park car-park at 6.30pm and the session lasts for an hour, including sprint training, SAQ, and other sport-specific coaching, not just the running - although when they do run, they do it in style, following courses around Central Park adjacent to Home Park.
