Pilgrim Peter

ARGYLE manager John Sheridan has further strengthened the spine of the Pilgrims’ 2014-15 squad with the signing of defender Peter Hartley.

Former Hartlepool centre-back Peter, 26, moves to Home Park on a two-year deal after a single season with Sky Bet League 1 Stevenage.

Sunderland youth-team graduate Peter played 38 times for Boro last season after a five-figure August transfer from home-town club Hartlepool, for who he played nearly 200 times, scoring 10 goals.

His arrival at Home Park follows the previous summer signings of central midfielder Lee Cox, from Swindon; Bradford City defender Carl McHugh; Yeovil Town striker Reuben Reid; and ex-Oxford United forward Deane Smalley.

Together with the re-signings of goalkeeper Luke McCormick and defender Curtis Nelson, a new backbone of the Argyle squad for the upcoming campaign is clearly taking shape.

Welcome to Home Park, Peter.
