Semi Scholars

ARGYLE Futsal Scholars reached the semi-finals of the National Futsal Finals at Birmingham International Futsal Arena.

After setting off at 4am for the 600-mile round trip, Argyle appeared weary in the first game against eventual finalists Cardiff City, losing a closely fought battle 2-1, before finding their usual free flowing attack-minded style to knock out Wolves, Accrington Stanley, Scunthorpe and Swindon.

A closely-fought semi-final against Sheffield United finished 3-2 in the Blades’ favour and they went on to be the well-deserved National Champions.

For the second consecutive year, Argyle striker Nathan Burt picked up the Golden Boot for League top scorer having found the back of the net 77 times over the two years he has spent on the Scholarship.

Argyle Futsal Scholars, who are based at Carn Brea Leisure Centre in Cornwall, can be very proud of themselves and they have certainly announced themselves as one of the favourites for the competition next season by finishing in the top four.

Argyle are currently recruiting for the Level 2 and Level 3 Futsal Scholarship at Carn Brea – a two-year full-time course studying a fantastic educational programme (equivalent to 3 A Levels) alongside professional coaching and regular matches.
